The Quest – North Philadelphia Hip Hop

Last week was along one. We were short handed both days and because of the snow our shift got pushed to the weekend Fri. Peter Parker(Jon O.) hung out for some more footage too. We got stuck in the snow on Sepviva & Boston. Thanks to the help of the concerned neighbors(not) we got unstuck after about a half hour of back and fourth rocking. Just an hour earlier Joe Jon and I helped carry a corps out of a building to an awaiting hurst.(That’s the first time anyone has asked me if I had a problem helping the dead.(go figure!) Anyway we ended up doing both jobs wich made the day drag on till about 5:30 6 o’ clock. The next day was alittle bit better cause we got to throw from the truck the job(thank god for snow) After work it seemed the B S started at the booth. The computer got a virus and wiped 150 gigs of music. So you can guess i was pretty ticked of. And wouldn’t you know it the phone calles started coming in from rhe artist I used to deal with daily(Not anymore) asking if I had copies of there music. When I told them it’s gone They got mad like I owe them something. I got pissed of so much I cut people off. This is my life in the music world not just yours I lost hundreds of tracks poeple didn’t even hear yet and you mad about your couple of songs that you should have had copys of. I know because I told you to allways keep your own copys just for days like this. I do alot of things from the muscle with no help a house full of school age kids to take care of. the last thing I need is grown men that blame others for there responablitys.

Some people make it some don’t most never had a chance but they all believe they’re gonna be famous.   for something they do. I know that’s what I think or see from this angel.  Yo! Have you ever had a day when things went well but somethings weren’t all what you hoped for. Well I’m having a day like so. On the job in Fishtown as the norm and I get my first call from Price talking about grabbing his rhymes from Sessions crib. But I don’t think he realizes that it’s Thursday “our normal work day… DUH!!) So I started to reminded him of that. Not that he didn’t put in a few years with us or anything like that….(Price! Session on a swing over on Ceder & Dauphin. When he get to the truck I’ll tell him you’ll see him later at his spot. [Price- "Queue Can you give me Session number at his spot so I can call him"] Man I just told you were he at! You all right n**! How come you won’t come back on a reg Price? (In a calm voice) I be making moves Queue. Look I”ll just tell Session. To meet you at his crib O.K.. Anyway We we’re squad tight today and moved as a unit today covered all of Fishtown by10:11am and we started at 4:53. A Six man crew free coffee no smoke and time. Work! I love it! Paulla Ducci Was really on his game today He had to make up for That young grip he lost on Friday….Ouch!! Four hundred hard owned problem starters gone. Well I look at it like this. Just for the moment that is. At least that wasn’t me That would have took food from my kids. or a bill I can’t handle write now. (yeah i was thinking kinda selfishly) But at least it’s just you.[?what about his bills?] Yeah you right Queue.[NOT!] My day runs on I’m in the booth with Last laugh. For those who don’t remember Him he’s from the expanded group THE DUTCH BROTHERS They recorded a album but never dropped it. Some tracks leaked. And they were a hit waiting to blow. But of course the same rap story…Drugs money and women. Oh and don’t forget The infamous EGO TRIPPIN That killed that! Last is trying to fight what the Price is fighting as we speak Just to look at him is like looking at myself twenty years ago. When I was right there. Man! I begged them all not to go there….

Today started as the norm The crew met at the studio except Meez we grabbed him from over da bridge. Shot to the shop. Weather starting to break and the wolfs are starting to show up at the shop. And the wall flowers are starting to grow. Even My brother didn’t get out. I”m a little more fortunate. For now everyone’s replaceable or so I’m told. We ran good time in Fishtown today and I can’t but wonder how Strickley Skillz Kell made out. He’s new young and slooooow but he’s ready to work if you give him a chanch. Hmmm….(time is money!) gotta go! Aw man! Dounkin doughnuts be poppin in the morning The night shift be snappin Free coffee cost you a tip cause you didn’t spend nothing….. {why give away something you want money for.) duh! Pepped in the window of the art gallery while waiting for the truck. Saw some cool stuff. Wish they had audio art I’d have something for that….Oh yeah I’m rambling. anyway Paul was in his bag today he likes when there’s someone slower or less skilled than him. he doesn’t say it but. It kinda shows Session must still have his muzzle game because Faa, Joe or Mike hasn’t said anything about his accuracy and speed. But we have been grabbing some real plugs.

We’re having a live band recording at the booth tonight. I’ve got the drums miced up and the keyboards midied thru and ready to go just waiting for the bass and lead to get here.

Chillin with Price Shooter Chizz and Chess Things live… They sayin Que don’t listen to enough hip hop he old school. Que’s response.. Yall don’t know what I listen to yall the young bucks I be surprizesed if ya’ll heard about most the rappers out at that time. Suckeeerzzzz.

The time spent away was a dousie. From fam problems to funerals and such to much personal info to say but it’ll be in the final cut of johns ongoing journal. Should have some more kick like “POW”.

The Fathers day show at Patterson Palace  was truly. The place to be that day. The food was very good with that southern appeal. And the entertainment was outstanding. Full Life was in the full spirit of the Lord. As well as the other acts such as Bird Williams, Bonnie D. and more. I’ll try to get some show dates for full life up on the site. You don’t want to miss how well they preform. They are truly blessed.

I don’t listen to alot gangster music Due to over gangsterism or should I say The hitman rapper sindrom. But this young man has been atracting listers everywhere he goes
His name is Pep Shooter and he has been on point for years now. He writes all of his lyrics and also is no stranger to the track board. (32 and up) he’s skilled in mixxing and recording also effects sampling. he has a multitude of lyrics in the streets on several mix tapes such as “Dead Presidents” to “Respect The Shooter) He has made a mark on the underground scene and plans on going even futher. He has colabs with many of the artist you know today. The fact that he controls his on lable is just one of the many acomplishments he has strived for. When Pep Shooter says he can make it happen… well let’s just say It does. Good luck Shooter The streets are watchin you.
